Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ lbs 680g ground beef (or mix of beef & pork)
  • 1 cup 90g breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup 120ml milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup 120ml ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried thyme optional
  • ½ tsp paprika optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a small bowl, soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, ½ cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional spices. Mix until just combined.
  • Shape mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan.

  • Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top for glaze.
  • Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice and serve with sides like mashed potatoes or vegetables.

Notes

  • Substitute half of the breadcrumbs with oats for a healthier version.
  • Add chopped bell peppers or grated carrots for extra flavor and nutrition.
