Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh cilantro optional, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Peeler
  • Cooking spoon
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Remove any excess fat.
  2. Sauté the Onion and Garlic: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Cook the Sweet Potatoes: Add the diced sweet potatoes to the skillet. Stir in the cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender.
  4. Combine: Once the sweet potatoes are tender, stir the mixture to combine everything. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Garnish: Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
