
Classic Meatloaf
A tender, juicy meatloaf with a savory-sweet ketchup glaze. Perfect for family dinners, weeknight meals, or meal prep. Hearty, flavorful, and comforting.

Ingredients
- 1 ½ lbs 680g ground beef (or mix of beef & pork)
- 1 cup 90g breadcrumbs
- ½ cup 120ml milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- ½ cup 120ml ketchup (plus extra for topping)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp dried thyme optional
- ½ tsp paprika optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, ½ cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional spices. Mix until just combined.
- Shape mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan.

- Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top for glaze.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Slice and serve with sides like mashed potatoes or vegetables.
Notes
- Substitute half of the breadcrumbs with oats for a healthier version.
- Add chopped bell peppers or grated carrots for extra flavor and nutrition.
- Meatloaf can be made ahead and reheated gently in the oven.
